   When we are cut off either from friends, loved ones, family or even economically we tend to want to find an excuse why this has occurred. The first response is to look to other people or events to point at rather than ourselves. The analogy that Fr. Jack used of Adam first blaming Eve and then God for the offense is funny when you first hear it until I realize that I have done the same thing by blaming events and not my selfish heart.

   Well done! Hit home in me.

   Making these homilies available on the Internet is wonderful. Fr. Jack puts so much into them that the rest of us need to hear it more than once to take it all in.

   What a wonderful thing these Podcasts are!

   We’re so fortunate to have Father Jack here. Among many other things, I think he’s one of the finest homilists in the Church! His homilies tend to be funny, touching, egalitarian, terribly relevant, theologically and philosophically rich, extremely intelligent yet easily accessible…and delivered with the confidence and authority due such God-serving words, but so obviously from a joyful, humble and loving heart.

   These homilies are worth archiving. They’re a joy to hear, never a dull drag.

   And until very recently scheduling has prevented me from attending Mass as much as I want…and I feel very blessed to be able to come here and hear what I’ve been missing.

   To whoever keeps these archives going: Thank you.
