Social Concerns
Thank you for the good response to help Catholic Charities
fill their grocery shelves! Let us make this next week at
GREAT response!!! Our suggestion for the week is a box of
breakfast cereal for the 2nd Sunday of Lent.

RCIA
Across the entire world. Catholic bishops on this
first Sunday of Lent will welcome those sent by the
parish to gather together with their godparents and
sponsors in what is known as the Rite of Election
and the Call to Continuing conversion. The Rite of
Sending, ordinarily held earlier on the same day,
offers the parish community an opportunity to acknowledge
the spiritual progress the catechumens
and candidates have made and send them forth to
Bishop Slattery with the assurance of the parish’s
care and support. The Rite of Election marks a key
moment. It signifies that they have been called by
Christ and attests to the fact that they have been
chosen to enter into the final period of preparation
for initiation, and called by the bishop, to the holy
mysteries to be celebrated at Easter.

    Dear Thelma WOM -
I believe I have died and gone to heaven–Please don’t wake me up. Right now we are in a beautiful spot in Connemara–where Sr. Barbara has been working. It’s almost surrounded by mountains. I’ve never seen so much green in all my life. We arrived here last night in the pouring rain. Despite a bit of cold and wet, we are completely undaunted by it.
We have seen so many things known to us only by the songs we sing around St. Patrick’s Day. We have crossed the River Shannon, driven by the Irish Sea, eaten on the shore of Galway Bay, driven all over Killarney-Ring of Kerry-looked for the rose at Tralleee but could find only camelias. Daffadils are everywhere. We have toured castles, forts, cemetaries, heritage parks and have searched the records for something of the Fleming history–not much luck. The Book of Kells is fabuolous–this is all too wonderful. Thank you for helping me! Blessings, S.Pierre
